Summit Therapeutics is expanding its investigational drug ivonescimab beyond non-small cell lung cancer into colorectal and bladder cancer indications. The company has initiated phase III trials for metastatic colorectal cancer and phase II/III studies for advanced bladder cancer.

Strategic partnerships with AstraZeneca, GSK, and Arcus Biosciences are evaluating ivonescimab in combination with other cancer therapies, with AstraZeneca committing $2 billion in investment. An FDA decision on ivonescimab for EGFR-mutated NSCLC is expected by November 2026.

Summit Therapeutics announced a clinical collaboration with AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo to evaluate ivonescimab in combination with Datroway across multiple solid tumors, starting with a phase III study in first-line triple-negative breast cancer. This partnership builds on AstraZeneca's $2 billion investment in Summit announced the previous week, expanding ivonescimab's development pipeline and creating additional clinical and commercial opportunities.

Summit Therapeutics announced a phase II/III clinical trial (EA2251) evaluating its investigational drug ivonescimab plus chemotherapy as a first-line treatment for advanced biliary tract cancer. The study will compare ivonescimab against Merck's Keytruda and AstraZeneca's Imfinzi, both combined with chemotherapy.

This follows positive results from the HARMONi-GI1 study, which showed ivonescimab demonstrated significant survival benefits over Imfinzi in BTC patients. Summit is expanding ivonescimab development across multiple cancer types while prioritizing lung cancer for near-term U.S. commercialization.
